Endorsement Meeting

on 11-10-21

Our endorsement meeting was not the longest in our history but it sure seemed like it at times. We heard from supporters and opponents of the Recalls and Candidates for State Assembly District 17 and Assessor-Recorder. The Results are as follows:

AD 17 ENDORSEMENT: David Campos (83%)

ASSESSOR/RECORDER: Joaquin Torres (100%)

S.F. District Attorney: No on Recall (90%)*

SFUSD Board Members: No on Recall (80%)**

*The S.F. District Attorney Recall has qualified but we do not yet know when the recall will be scheduled for election.

*This is an approximate because it was more difficult to calculate as the votes were of individual members or no endorsement. None of the votes to recall specific members reached more than 9% of the vote.

My guess is that these endorsements are very different from how D11 will end up voting, especially with respect to the BOE recall (probably the only one of the 4 issues that D11 cares about). My suggestion is that, if D11 ends up voting significantly different from how the D11dems club members voted, we make a real effort to try to get a membership more representative of democrats in the district.

And please I would request that we stop saying that anyone who disagrees with us is a republican. The people that support the recall are largely parents with kids in public school or parents who felt the need to pull their kids out of public school.
