November 2022 District 11 Democratic Club Endorsements

November 8, 2022 District 11 Endorsements

On September 10th, 2022, the District 11 Democratic Club hosted a Membership Candidate Forum. It was a long day, but here are our endorsements for the 2022 November election.

San Francisco Local Candidates:

  • Board of Education (Three 4-year term seats)

    • Alida Fisher
    • Gabriela Lopez
    • Karen Fleshmen

  • Community College Board (Three 4-year term seats)

    • Brigitte Davila
    • Thea Selby
    • No Position

Our honorable mentions are John Rizzo and William Walker. Both candidates were recommended by the PAC, but ultimately did not get the club's official endorsement. Both candidates exemplify our clubs core values and have contributed to higher education in many distinct ways.

  • Community College Board (One 2-year term seat)

    • Murrell Green

  • Assessor-Recorder

    • Joaquin Torres

  • District Attorney

    • John Hamasaki

  • Public Defender

    • Mano Raju

  • U.S. Congressional Seat 11

    • Nancy Pelosi

  • U.S. Congressional Seat 15

    • Dual Endorsement: David Canepa and Kevin Mullin

Throughout the Primary PAC process and the November PAC process, our club has been torn between two amazing and qualified candidates. We believe that either candidate would do a great job representing this extraordinary district at Congress.

  • State Assembly - District 17
    • Matt Haney

  • State Assembly - District 19
    • Phil Ting

  • Board of Equalization, District 2

  • BART Board, District 8

    • Janice Li

Our club decided to endorse both Measure I and J due to how split the club got on this issue. Measure I tries to address disability and elderly access while Measure J makes it easier for bike access and puts into action SF’s Vision Zero goals. Both measures won’t solve all the issues it is trying to address, but we are hopeful it’s a step in the right direction.
